A new brand to Energise Africa
We recently created the brand for Energise Africa — a new crowdfunding campaign from two of Europe’s leading social investment platforms, Ethex and Lendahand.
Backed by Virgin Unite and UK Aid, Energise Africa offers anyone the opportunity to invest in innovative solar businesses in Sub-Saharan Africa, see great returns and help solve energy poverty at the same time.
We worked with the joint venture team to define their purpose, name the venture and bring their story to life through a brand identity and digital design.
Inspired by hand-painted African street signs, we developed an optimistic identity for the project. All the core graphic elements borrow from this DIY aesthetic – from the logo to background textures to illustrations and icons.
Energise Africa aims to raise £20million in three years. To attract that level of investment we had to strike the right balance between telling human stories about the project's impact, with rational messaging focussing on the investment opportunity. An investment for the head as well as the heart.
Thisaway helped us navigate a complex branding process collaboratively and effectively. They delivered smart strategic thinking and outstanding design work while simultaneously juggling the often complex demands of our joint venture team, funders and partners.
